What is GenoEasy?
GenoEasy is a professional Windows software for creating genograms. Genograms are graphical representations of family structures and relationships used in systemic therapy, counseling and social work.
Who is GenoEasy designed for?
GenoEasy was specifically developed for professionals: therapists, counselors, social workers, family therapists and anyone who works professionally with family systems.
Which genogram standards are supported?
GenoEasy uses the standard symbols according to McGoldrick & Gerson, which are internationally recognized: squares for men, circles for women, various line types for relationship qualities (close, distant, conflictual) and partnerships (married, separated, divorced).
Installation & System Requirements
What are the system requirements for GenoEasy?
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit)
- At least 4 GB RAM
- 100 MB free disk space
- Screen resolution: min. 1280 x 720
Do I need an internet connection?
No! GenoEasy works completely offline. You only need an internet connection once for license activation. After that, the software works entirely without internet.
How do I install GenoEasy?
- Download the installation file
- Run the .exe or .msi file
- Follow the instructions of the installation wizard
- Launch GenoEasy and enter your license key
License & Trial Version
Is there a free trial version?
Yes! You can try GenoEasy free for 14 days with no obligation. All features are available in the trial version.
How do I activate my license?
After purchase, you will receive a license key by email in the format GENO-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. Enter it in GenoEasy (Menu: Help > Activate license). Activation is instant and you can use the software indefinitely.
Is the license time-limited?
No, it is a one-time purchase. After activation, you can use GenoEasy indefinitely. Updates within the same major version are free of charge.
Can I use the license on multiple computers?
A single license is valid for one computer. If you wish to use GenoEasy on multiple devices, you will need the Practice license (up to 5 devices). When changing computers, the license is automatically transferred (up to 2 times per year).
How do I switch to a new device?
Simply install GenoEasy on your new computer and enter your license key. The old device will be automatically deactivated. Alternatively, you can use the web version at genoeasy.de/genoweb/ in any browser. Device changes are possible up to 2 times per year. Remember to manually copy your .geno files (genograms) to the new computer.
Features & Usage
Which export formats are available?
GenoEasy supports export as PDF for documentation and printing. Additionally, your genograms are saved in the proprietary .geno format, which can be reopened and edited at any time.
Can I display external contacts?
Yes! GenoEasy supports the display of external persons (therapists, social workers, doctors) and institutions (school, youth welfare office, church) with special symbols and relationship lines.
Is there an undo function?
Yes, you can undo your last actions at any time with Ctrl+Z and redo them with Ctrl+Y.
Privacy & Security
Where is my data stored?
All data remains exclusively on your computer. GenoEasy does not store any data in the cloud or on external servers. You have full control over your sensitive client data.
Is GenoEasy GDPR compliant?
Yes! Since all data is stored locally on your computer and no data is transmitted to third parties, GenoEasy meets the requirements of the GDPR.
